When we want something really badly and an opportunity presents itself for us to get it, we understandably get very attached to the idea of this particular opportunity working out. We may think this is our shot, this is how what I want is going to manifest in my life. Sometimes, this very opportunity pans out, but sometimes, it does not. This can be hard to take. That sense of disappointment can be overwhelming at times. We were so sure this was the path, this was the means and because it did not work out, we can start to doubt whether we will get what we are hoping for. We think our chance has passed, never to come around again. We lose our enthusiasm, we may even give up.
Dissolving our attachments to certain outcomes or to certain beliefs that we can only get what we want in very specific ways that we have figured out with our logical minds is vital if you are serious about making your desires in life a reality. The idea that we will get these things is the most vital ingredient and as long as we hold that idea in our mind, it will show up in our lives eventually. If we can hold firm to this idea, we will not get attached to certain opportunities. We can hope they work out, but if they do not, we know that does not mean the end of the road. We know that what we want is still on its way and will get to us somehow. This is challenging stuff. It is hard to have this level of faith. It is hard to suspend the actions of our logical minds, which try to figure everything out all the time. We cannot figure it out, however. We can never fully anticipate all the different ways our dreams can become a reality. We never know who we will meet, what information we will come across, what opportunities will present themselves to us.
If you are currently focusing your efforts on achieving a particular goal, I suggest shifting your focus from figuring out how you will get it or placing all of your hopes on one means of acquiring this thing. Most of your mental effort should be on cultivating the belief that you will get it in some way, shape or form. Of course, engage in any activities that will help you get what you want, but do not get attached to any of these means.
